Prepartum Depression

My heart cracks and crumbles a little more each time I read about a mother’s struggle with Postpartum Depression. Especially when I’ve come across another wave of articles lately about mothers who ultimately ended their own lives, leaving behind sweet babies and overwhelmed and likely confused/shocked husbands and family members. Each of my pregnancies have encompassed varying levels of “crazy.” No, that’s not the PC way to describe it, but that is how it feels sometimes. Extreme mood swings. Spontaneous bouts of crying, sometimes right in the aisle of Albertson’s. Maximum exhaustion. Looking into the mirror and not recognizing myself.

VLOG 5 Stuff n’ Things

It’s been a fun project to learn how to VLOG about the life of a mompreneur. The hardest part is actually remembering to film stuff! I actually have to be quite intentional about the process, which sorta takes away from the authenticity of capturing me in my natural habitat. My busiest days are so much darting around that I just never think to film. Still, it’s a fun project, and keeps me focused on how I spend my time each day. If nothing else this will be a virtual journal for me to enjoy years from now. If you don’t

VLOG 4 Comedy Press Kit Prep

Some days I’d like to just not have a to-do list. Just be a mom. Good news is I can do that in short increments each day, and for that I am TRULY grateful. It doesn’t keep me from stressing out about all the things I could be doing to further my business objectives, however, but I do what I can and try not to stress out too much. The only way I can get things done is to break things down into bite-sized tasks. Yesterday was a day filled with meetings, catching up on emails and phone calls, and

The Suits Shall Set You Free

This is a little throw back to a short blog I wrote about a year ago on a different platform, before this nifty site was even conceived. I really enjoy re-reading my own words about where I’ve been with my career to stay focused on where I’m going. It isn’t easy to build your own business, and personal brand of comedy, but as the glimmers of success start to show themselves, I can’t help but be excited for the future. Sure, I have no idea where my next paycheck is coming from at the moment, but somewhere out there, someone

VLOG 3 Home Again, Home Again

Funny thing about a “quick trip” to Florida is that from Boise, where I live, that means 10-12 hour process to get there, grab a bite, hit the pillow, work for 4 hours in the morning and head right back to the airport for another 10-12 hours to get home. Ahh, the things you have to do when you build a business from scratch. Thankfully, it was a great session of Zip Zap Zop (improv in the workplace) and ultimately, I felt like it was totally worth it. When I walked in the door at 10pm, two of the three

VLOG 2 Travel Prep

I’m heading to Florida soon to teach improv in the workplace with a group of CEO’s, all from their own company, coming together for some high-level masterminding and an ultimate, experiential workshop with me! Learn more about what in the heck it means to have improv in YOUR workplace by visiting WhatIsZipZapZop.com.

Horse Cart: Part 3 of 3 in a KookyMegan Mini-Series

I have this recurring dream. It hits the subconscious cycle of my sleep zone about once or twice a week lately. I’m frantic. It’s the final day of my beach destination vacation. I’m scrambling around trying to pack things and prepare to head home. All of my stuff is in the drawers, which never happens in real life when I travel, so I’m yanking each drawer open and heaving things into my suitcase. I keep noticing how fast the time is moving and we are cutting it dangerously close getting out the door to the airport. I keep glancing out

VLOG 1 Work at Home Momma

Gotta keep things interesting around here, so I finally started vlogging last week. It will be my humble attempt to capture myself in the natural habitat of working from home while raising little adorable (and crazy) kiddos. It is as literal as possible to juggle working from home while they are climbing under/in my desk and on me. They also love to help me type, flat-palmed and slap-happy. So, here’s another variety of all things @KookyMegan. Hope you enjoy!

Nurture Calls: Part 2 of 3 in a KookyMegan Mini-Series

Being the youngest of six in a family that blended together when I was seven, I always savored the feeling of a full house. There were countless activities and conversations going on at any given time. Mostly pleasant, but sometimes listening in on a tantrum-throwing teenage older sister who liked to slam doors so hard they nearly popped off their hinges, or throw all of my belongings out the second story window. I was still better off than the old boom box with a busted antenna that met its ultimate demise when she lobbed that sucker into the air from
