My heart cracks and crumbles a little more each time I read about a mother’s struggle with Postpartum Depression. Especially when I’ve come across another wave of articles lately about mothers who ultimately ended their own lives, leaving behind sweet babies and overwhelmed and likely confused/shocked husbands and family members. Each of my pregnancies have encompassed varying levels of “crazy.” No, that’s not the PC way to describe it, but that is how it feels sometimes. Extreme mood swings. Spontaneous bouts of crying, sometimes right in the aisle of Albertson’s. Maximum exhaustion. Looking into the mirror and not recognizing myself.

I can’t believe I’m finally writing this blog. I’ve been eager for this moment for months. What a whirlwind the past 18 months have been. What started as a little, persistent inkling in my very soul, urging me to share this positive story of adoption has become a small pile of pages bound together in the form of a real BOOK. Amazing. (To me…) This book really became something special and meaningful because it includes contributions by my mother, my birth daughter, and both of her parents. Funny thing about a “quick trip” to Florida is that from Boise, where I live, that means 10-12 hour process to get there, grab a bite, hit the pillow, work for 4 hours in the morning and head right back to the airport for another 10-12 hours to get home. Gotta keep things interesting around here, so I finally started vlogging last week. It will be my humble attempt to capture myself in the natural habitat of working from home while raising little adorable (and crazy) kiddos. It is as literal as possible to juggle working from home while they are climbing under/in my desk and on me. They also love to help me type, flat-palmed and slap-happy. So, here’s another variety of all things @KookyMegan. Hope you enjoy!
