Ask anyone you know how they feel about laughter. Granted, there are folks who are self-conscious about the sound of their laugh, but there’s no denying it feels amazing. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone who hates it. Everyone loves to laugh and the longer we go between laughing the more likely it is that you will hear someone say “wow, I needed that,” after the eventual release. You know the kind, where you erupt into uncontrollable, gut-busting, even tear-inducing laughter? Ah, that’s the BEST. The truth of the matter is that we all need laughter. It’s part of

My heart cracks and crumbles a little more each time I read about a mother’s struggle with Postpartum Depression. Especially when I’ve come across another wave of articles lately about mothers who ultimately ended their own lives, leaving behind sweet babies and overwhelmed and likely confused/shocked husbands and family members. Each of my pregnancies have encompassed varying levels of “crazy.” No, that’s not the PC way to describe it, but that is how it feels sometimes. Extreme mood swings. Spontaneous bouts of crying, sometimes right in the aisle of Albertson’s. Maximum exhaustion. Looking into the mirror and not recognizing myself.

I fell in love with the art of improvisation over ten years ago. Within mere MINUTES of my first experience with the craft I could sense that it was going to be absolutely life changing. I knew it would be an influential skill set from then on. I felt it should be a part of EVERYONE’S lives. How could something this profound exist and the whole world not function on its premise? Within weeks of participating in improv rehearsals (which I know sounds like an oxymoron, but just roll with it,) I began to notice the way that the performance

I can’t believe I’m finally writing this blog. I’ve been eager for this moment for months. What a whirlwind the past 18 months have been. What started as a little, persistent inkling in my very soul, urging me to share this positive story of adoption has become a small pile of pages bound together in the form of a real BOOK. Amazing. (To me…) This book really became something special and meaningful because it includes contributions by my mother, my birth daughter, and both of her parents. Amid the digging into my own past, I had help from my sisters,

Listen, I understand there are MUCH bigger problems in the world than having to sell my Jeep, but humor me for a few minutes (or don’t! No one will MAKE you watch this) so I may lament the passing of my Jeep keys into the hands of another man. There are no other items that exist on this planet that I feel any specific attachments to. None. As a young girl I remember rubber-necking any time a Jeep Wrangler (or even a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Cherokee) would drive by. I wanted one someday. They look so much different than

It’s been a fun project to learn how to VLOG about the life of a mompreneur. The hardest part is actually remembering to film stuff! I actually have to be quite intentional about the process, which sorta takes away from the authenticity of capturing me in my natural habitat. My busiest days are so much darting around that I just never think to film. Still, it’s a fun project, and keeps me focused on how I spend my time each day. If nothing else this will be a virtual journal for me to enjoy years from now. If you don’t

Some days I’d like to just not have a to-do list. Just be a mom. Good news is I can do that in short increments each day, and for that I am TRULY grateful. It doesn’t keep me from stressing out about all the things I could be doing to further my business objectives, however, but I do what I can and try not to stress out too much. The only way I can get things done is to break things down into bite-sized tasks. Yesterday was a day filled with meetings, catching up on emails and phone calls, and

This is a little throw back to a short blog I wrote about a year ago on a different platform, before this nifty site was even conceived. I really enjoy re-reading my own words about where I’ve been with my career to stay focused on where I’m going. It isn’t easy to build your own business, and personal brand of comedy, but as the glimmers of success start to show themselves, I can’t help but be excited for the future. Sure, I have no idea where my next paycheck is coming from at the moment, but somewhere out there, someone

Funny thing about a “quick trip” to Florida is that from Boise, where I live, that means 10-12 hour process to get there, grab a bite, hit the pillow, work for 4 hours in the morning and head right back to the airport for another 10-12 hours to get home. Ahh, the things you have to do when you build a business from scratch. Thankfully, it was a great session of Zip Zap Zop (improv in the workplace) and ultimately, I felt like it was totally worth it. When I walked in the door at 10pm, two of the three
